Rental terms

A summary of the most important rules in English. The full and binding text is the Polish version of our rental regulations.

Binding version. This page is an English summary provided for convenience. The legally binding documents are the Polish rental regulations (Regulamin wypożyczalni) and booking regulations (Regulamin rezerwacji). If this summary differs from them, the Polish version prevails. You can ask us about any point by email before you book.

Who can rent a car

  • The renter and every driver must be at least 21 and hold a category B driving licence for at least 2 years.
  • Every additional driver must be named in the rental agreement (PLN 10 per day per person, max. PLN 100) and show the same documents as the renter.

Documents

  • A valid driving licence that is recognised in Poland. Depending on the country that issued it, you may also need an International Driving Permit, which you always show together with your national licence. Our guide for foreign drivers explains the rules.
  • Proof of identity: a passport, or a national ID card for EU citizens.
  • A credit or debit card for the deposit, unless you take the Protektor package.

Without the required documents we cannot sign the agreement or hand over the car, and the booking fee is not refunded.

Booking fee, payment and deposit

A booking is confirmed by a booking fee of 50% of the price, which under Polish law is a zadatek (a non-refundable deposit). The rest of the price is paid no later than at pick-up.

At pick-up we take a refundable security deposit, preferably as a block on your payment card: PLN 500 (class B), PLN 1,000 (B SUV, C) or PLN 1,500 (C SUV, D). We release the block as soon as the return is settled, and the funds usually reach your card within 7 days, depending on your bank. No deposit: on rentals of 3 days or more with the Protektor package.

Mileage

The price includes 400 km for each rental day, or 3,000 km on rentals of 30 days or more. The limit is counted in total over the whole rental, so a long drive on one day can be balanced by shorter days. Extra kilometres cost PLN 0.30 per km.

Fuel

You return the car with the same amount of fuel as at pick-up. If fuel is missing, we refuel the car and charge the cost of the fuel plus PLN 200.

Insurance, excess and Protektor

All cars have third-party liability (OC), comprehensive damage (AC) and personal accident (NNW) insurance plus assistance. If the car is damaged through your fault, you pay up to the excess for the car class: PLN 1,500 (B), PLN 2,000 (B SUV, C) or PLN 2,500 (C SUV, D).

The Protektor package (rentals of 3 days or more, PLN 29-49 per day depending on the class) reduces the excess to zero and removes the deposit. The full excess applies again if the damage is not reported or the damage report form is not completed, the regulations are breached, the car is driven by someone not named in the agreement, the driver is under the influence of alcohol, medication or drugs or does not have the required documents, the damage is caused deliberately or by gross negligence, or the car is stolen with the keys or documents left inside. Protektor does not cover tyres and the interior damaged by improper use, or the charges in the fee table (fuel, cleaning, smoking).

Driving abroad

You can drive the car to EU countries, Switzerland and Norway if you declare it when booking. The one-off fee is PLN 199. Travel abroad without consent costs PLN 1,000 and means the Protektor package no longer protects you. Vignettes and road tolls abroad are paid by the renter.

Rental days, late returns and extensions

A rental day is 24 hours from the time of pick-up. There is a tolerance of 59 minutes. A return more than 59 minutes late without our consent is charged at 200% of the daily rate for each day. If you want to extend the rental, agree it with us at least 24 hours before the planned return.

Pick-up, return and office hours

  • Our office: ul. Opolska 12, 31-323 Kraków. Pick-up and return here are free of charge.
  • Kraków Airport (Balice): delivery PLN 99, return PLN 99.
  • Delivery to an address in Kraków: PLN 120.
  • Office hours: Monday to Friday 8:00-18:00, Saturday 9:00-13:00. Sundays and public holidays by prior arrangement. Pick-up or return outside office hours costs PLN 60.

At pick-up and return we complete an electronic handover report with photos of the car (front, rear, sides, odometer, interior), the mileage, the fuel level and any damage. You receive a text message with a code and a link to the report, and entering the code confirms it.

What is not allowed

  • smoking in the car,
  • letting anyone not named in the agreement drive the car,
  • racing, rallies, training or test drives,
  • carrying passengers or goods for payment (including taxi and ride-hailing services) and towing other vehicles,
  • driving to countries not listed in the agreement.

Fines, tolls and parking

Road tolls, parking, vignettes and fines incurred during the rental are paid by the renter. If the authorities ask us for the driver's details, for example after a speed camera photo, we charge PLN 150 for providing them.

Cancellation

The booking fee is a zadatek and is not refunded if you cancel. If we are unable to provide the car, we offer a car of the same class or refund the full amount. Details are in the Polish booking regulations.
